Heirloom Indian varieties — grown with intention, shipped across the US.
Rare seeds rooted in South Asian heritage. Varieties carried across generations, shaped by monsoon soils and family kitchens — now available for gardens everywhere.
Punarvana was born from a longing — the kind that visits you at a farmer's market when you pick up a pale green eggplant and realize it's nothing like what your grandmother grew in her courtyard back home.
It started in my own home garden in Washington State — a patch of soil where I began growing the vegetables I missed most. Murungai, vendakkai, keerai — flavors I couldn't find anywhere nearby. What began as a personal project became a calling: to source, grow, and share the heirloom Indian seeds that carry these flavors.
We source rare Indian and South Indian heirloom varieties, selected for their cultural significance, flavor depth, and open-pollinated heritage — seeds you won't find at any garden center, but that might feel like coming home.
"Punarvana — a place that blooms again."
From Sanskrit: punar (again) + vana (forest / garden)Our seeds are available on Etsy — where you can browse current varieties, read grower reviews, and order with confidence. Every packet is labeled, open-pollinated, and shipped with care.
You'll be taken to our Etsy storefront to browse and purchase.
"A seed is memory made dormant — waiting for the right soil, the right hands, the right season."
Punarvana begins with seeds — but the vision is larger. A living nursery. A gathering place for South Asian gardeners. A destination where heirloom plants, growing knowledge, and community converge. We believe food sovereignty begins with seed sovereignty — and that when people can grow the vegetables of their homeland, something more than food is cultivated. Identity is cultivated. Belonging is cultivated.
